DIY and Hardware Stores in Pattaya

If you're planning to stay in Pattaya for an extended period of time, it's likely that wherever you choose to stay, you'll need a few bits and bobs from the D.I.Y or hardware store.

Whether you're looking for pots and pans, furniture, or some nice accessories to make your place feel like home, you'll find great quality items at many stores throughout the city. It also possible to buy most construction, D.I.Y. and gardening materials if you're looking to take home improvements to the next level.

Many supplies and raw materials here are cheap, however there are a few things imported into the country that fall under the category of luxury items - which are heavily taxed - and are these often much more expensive than you'd find back at home.

That said, there are hoards of high quality and affordable D.I.Y. products available in Pattaya and kitting out your house, shop front, restaurant or hotel can be as simple as making a few trips to the local hardware store.

There are a number of large D.I.Y department stores that have everything under one roof. These places sell all items from household furniture to electronics, hardware tools and supplies - so you can spruce up any room in the house in one easy run. You'll find bathroom, living room and bedroom furniture, as well as kitchen ware and appliances, lighting supplies and outdoor/garden furniture and much more.

The prices in these places are reasonable, and sometimes they offer great deals on selected products, so it's always worth keeping your eye out for any fantastic promotions.

Most places offer a delivery service, some may charge a fee depending on how large the order is (and how far it's going), others stores may set a minimum purchase amount with free delivery.

With almost all D.I.Y. equipment on sale in one shop, it's very easy to drop by these larger stores and pick up pretty much anything you need. However since they do stock a lot of goods the choices are sometimes limited, but that's not to say those items are not available in Pattaya, you may just have to look past the big department stores and check out the other great hardware shops located around the city.

D.I.Y. Materials and Supplies

For the more expert or individual projects you many wish to visit a D.I.Y store that specializes in certain area of the market. In these places you'll often find a wider range of the particular items you're looking for. You'll find stores that focus on selling plumbing supplies, guttering, painting and decorating equipment, floor tiles and bathroom furniture, bedroom and living room furniture, kitchen appliances, security, electronics, as well as hardware tools and accessories. The most reputable establishments are run by people in the industry who know their stuff, so if there's something that can't be bought here for a reasonable price they can give you a good idea what you might consider using instead. For those really looking to go all out in their Pattaya house or apartment, there are also several luxury stores that predominantly sell imported designer household and bathroom furniture, and high-end kitchenware. Prices in these places aren't cheap, but you can get a good deal if you shop around. Do note that you usually get what you pay for and there are a lot of low-quality D.I.Y. products on the market - especially the budget brands from China. Don't expect a 500 baht power drill to give you same performance as one that costs 2500 baht, just as you wouldn't expect a 2000 baht sofa to be as comfortable as one that cost 20,000 baht. If you're simply looking for something to hang your clothes on, something to eat off or with, a little table to stand a few belongings on, cheap furniture items and kitchen accessories are a great way to go. But always remember, that if you're doing any serious D.I.Y, electrical or construction work, always be sure to get a professional you trust to have a look over things first, as safety standards here are usually not up to par with the rest of the western world. It's common to find dangerous wiring, fixings and other bad workmanship when choosing to renovate somewhere and diving in without a thought as to what might be lying in wait could end in a serious accident.

Best D.I.Y. Stores in Pattaya

You'll find well stocked and easily accessible hardware stores located all over the city, usually along the main roads of Central Pattaya, and Sukhumvit. But there are also excellent hardware outlets in Jomtien, and out toward Chonburi, or Rayong, for those staying on the outskirts. If you're looking for a one-stop D.I.Y. trip, check out Home Pro (Pattaya/ Klang Central Rd) and Home Works. More niche equipment can be found at places such as T.O.A Colorworld (Jomtien), Dulux Paint (Sukhumvit Rd), Scorpion Steel Security Doors (Pattaya 3rd Road), and Wilawan Pine Wood (Sukhumvit Rd), all of which have extensive products ranges of items in the respective field of D.I.Y.. For hardware and power tools check out TC Home Tools (North Pattaya Rd) Dewalt Power Tools (Sukhumvit) and Sam's Hardware (Sukhumvit Rd). And for electrical supplies take a trip over to Chaiyaphruek Electric (Chaiyaphruek Rd) or Pornchai Electric (Pattaya Nua/North Rd). All large cities around Thailand have D.I.Y. hardware stores, but with so many family run hotels, shops, businesses, and residential homes for geared towards expats in Pattaya, there is a much larger western influence when it comes to what products and brands are available. This makes the city one of the best place in Thailand for Farang's to do a little D.I.Y. since many stores have recognizable brands and most have English speaking staff to assist you when shopping for your supplies.
